Solaris Alpino for customers in Germany and Poland

Solaris Alpino for customers in Germany and Poland

01.10.2007The newcomer to the Solaris family, the small low-floor city bus Alpino, presented at the Transexpo Fair in Kielce last year, will soon be in operation in the Polish town of Augustów and in Munich.

The Solaris Alpino is the latest and, at the same time, smallest product development of Solaris. This new bus, with a length of as little as 8.6 meters, is 15 centimeters less in width than his big Urbino brothers, making it especially convenient in narrow city centers.

- The Solaris Alpino is our proposal, for instance for minor old city centers with narrow streets where "normal" busses are hard to operate. However, we also had winding mountain routes with their narrow tunnels in mind - thus the name of our newcomer - explains Krzysztof Olszewski, president of Solaris Bus & Coach.

The first orders for the Alpino came from Augustów and Munich. The Necko company from Augustów, Poland, a steady customer at Solaris Bus & Coach, will receive two Alpinos, bringing the total of Solaris buses at this transportation company to seven. Another three Alpinos have been purchased by VBR public transportation and service company from Unterschleißheim, Germany. They are to transport passengers in Munich. VBR has already purchased eight Solaris Urbino 12 city buses.

- Five units sold within only a few months after this vehicle‘s premiere makes an extraordinary figure. I‘m quite confident our Alpino will soon convince further transportation companies as well - foretells Krzysztof Olszewski.
