Low-entry novelty
25.11.2011A new model has joined the low-entry offer of Polish manufacturer Solaris: the articulated Urbino 18 with compressed natural gas (CNG) propulsion. It expands the Solaris low-entry fleet to six vehicles. Solaris extends its offer successively, meeting clients’ expectations and responding to new market opportunities. In order to meet them in the best possible way, the company constructed the Solaris Urbino 18 LE CNG - its first low-entry articulated bus with compressed natural gas propulsion. The vehicle is propelled by a 234.8 kW Cummins ISLG EEV 320 engine that meets the EEV exhaust emissions standard. Eight roof mounted gas tanks contain up to 1712 l of compressed gas. The prototype was equipped with a so-called Scandinavian package, including additional insulation of ceiling, side walls, and driver’s cab, effective heating systems and auxiliary heating, as well as comfortable STER seats with seat belts and headrests. The bus was developed with Scandinavian markets in focus, where such a combination of chassis and propulsion is particularly common.
