Solaris buses with ZF EcoLife transmissions

11.01.2010The first Solaris buses with state-of-the-art ZF EcoLife automatic transmissions have entered service with bus operators all over Europe. With the ZF EcoLife, Solaris adds another eco-friendly and cost-effective specification option to its broad range of modern public transport buses.

Higher performance with better economy - EcoLife, the new commercial vehicle transmission by ZF meets this requirement. The 6-speed automatic transmission has also been optimally adapted to higher torques. It transfers up to 2,000 Nm and the new topography-dependent TopoDyn Life transmission control software is supplied as standard. This software continuously registers and processes data relating to the topography and all other driving resistances.

When developing the 6-speed automatic transmission EcoLife, priority was given to customer benefits and economy. Compared with conventional powershift transmissions, the ZF EcoLife transmits 25 percent more torque and has been designed for a considerably longer service life. Depending on the operation, fuel savings of approximately five percent are expected.

With the EcoLife transmission, Solaris and ZF jointly provide a solution for sustainable mobility. The new technology of the ZF EcoLife makes the Solaris Urbino family of city and interurban buses even more cost-effective. Lower fuel consumption means lower operating costs as well as reduced emissions - providing a clear benefit to the environment.
