On 4th January 2008, Bochum-Gelsenkirchener Straßenbahnen AG officially launched the first hybrid bus in Germany‘s most populous state, North Rhine-Westphalia. The environmentally friendly bus of the Solaris Urbino 18 Hybrid model was manufactured by Solaris Bus & Coach.

Solaris Bus & Coach has delivered the first bus to comply with the EEV standard to Austria! The environmentally friendly Urbino 12 went to Loacker Tours from Koblach, Vorarlberg.

The newcomer to the Solaris family, the small low-floor city bus Alpino, presented at the Transexpo Fair in Kielce last year, will soon be in operation in the Polish town of Augustów and in Munich.

Solaris Bus & Coach has won in a public tender for the delivery of 225 city buses of the Dubai Roads & Transport Authority. Apart from the shipment, the contract includes the buses‘ maintenance and service and has a total value of about 112 million Euro.

On the 26th of June 2007, the first hybrid drive bus in Switzerland was ceremoniously taken into operation in the Swiss town of Lenzburg. The 18 meter long Solaris Urbino Hybrid had been built in the western Polish town of Bolechowo for one of the largest transportation companies of Switzerland, the privately owned Eurobus.
